100

Sardinia is one of five Blue Zones. These are places with high concentrations of some of the oldest people globally. In 2019, director Hannah Berry George was invited to the idyllic island on a press trip and took the opportunity to spend some time with the older locals, finding out more about the ways they have spent their lives.

It wasn’t until the following year that the film started to come together—during a time when Italy was losing its elderly population at a vast rate because of the pandemic. 100 is a celebration of this generation. Four interviews with four centenarians, and those just a few years shy, who do not know each other and have never met, are woven together to create a dinner-table conversation. Sharing memories and reminiscing about dancing, food, how the island has changed, and the younger generation.
